Born in Bherka, undivided Punjab.
Painted on the walls and floors of the village houses in Punjab.
1931 Chief Organiser and Chairman, Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar.
He was the State Artist of Bhopal, Bikaner, Kotah, Patiala, Kapurthala and Maler Kotla.
1935 President, Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar.
An art school called Thakar Singh Art School and an art gallery called Thakar Singh Art Gallery were named after him.

Studied engineering, Victoria Diamond Jubilee Technical Institute, Lahore. Trained in art direction, Bombay.
