STYLE
Radhacharan Bagchi was a versatile artist, worked in oil, tempera, opaque and transparent water colour. To his credit, he also has a number of graphics art in dry point, etching, lithography and linocut. He in his long career maintained the tradition of Indian Art, choosing subjects form Hindu and Buddhist mythology. He is remembered for his Mughal and Rajput miniatures. His great virtuosity still leaves the viewers ecstatic, transporting them to a realm of aesthetic trance.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Taught art in schools before joining Kala Bhavan at Rabindranath Tagore`s invitation.
1951 He joined Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan.
1963-73 Officiated twice as the Principal of Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan.
Invited by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of Bihar and the Patna Art College to give series of lectures on Fine Arts.
